外交、安全保障政策の共通化と通貨統合の実現を目的とし、現在27カ国が加盟。単一通貨ユーロが導入されており、現在17カ国が採用している。ギリシャを発端とする財政問題から、ユーロ圏全体の財政連携強化が急務となっている。

Twenty seven countries join the European Union to unify their diplomatic and national security policies as well as the currency.  Seventeen nations currently adopt Euro.  Due to the European financial crisis, more corporations among the nations have been necessary to rebuild the economy in the region.
